After life - Ricky Gervais.
I know he isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but this was brilliant. Had me in tears, fucking wuss!

Thought provoking.

His podcast was interesting during the first year of lockdown.

Haven't watched the third series yet, but the first two were great - other than Paul Kaye's character who, especially in the second series, was ridiculous

Just binge watched series 3. He nailed it again.

No Paul Kaye 👍

Really enjoyed the first two series’s but the third two episodes in gave up,absolute bollocks.
A right shame.anyone expecting similar humour don’t bother watching series 3 as it’s fucking pathetic.

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
Nice enough third series, liked the ambiguous ending.
But not really sure what it added to the overall story.
Netflix money probably influenced him in making a 3rd series, which he doesn't really normally do.

Twoleftfeet no offence but series 3 is nowhere near the first two in my humble

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
I never take offence.

I thought it was the best of the 3.

Loved David Earl, very underrated actor.

My only criticism was the 2 “ lads “, not sure what they brought to it.

Brilliant ending.

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
I love Ricky Gervais but I think After Life is really overrated. Series 2 became stupid with the ridiculous therapist character and series 3 basically relied on the word ‘cunt’, as did series 2, for cheap laughs. The only decent episode was the last one and that’s only because it tugged at the heart strings.

Instead of clever comedy like The Office, it was just cunt, cunt, cunt. I ended up bored and just watching it for the sake of it.

Is that old dear still constantly at her dead husbands grave whist at the same time telling Gervais he needs to move on with his life?

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
Series 1 was a brilliant piece of TV

Series 2 followed on and was a nice piece of TV

Series 3 is a little bit boring I’m afraid. I want to like it and some bits are ok but it’s just a bit low rent especially in comparison to what came before.

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
Series 3 is poor.

He’s lazily just turned the peripheral characters up to 11 on the amplifier and written some pretty poor sketches, a lot of which has been seen in his other work.

David Earl basically becomes the character he played in Derek. And Paul Kaye’s hangers on are just taking the piss being there.

He even got the kid doing the Office mimes in it.

Watched all 6 waiting for something to happen, bar the bit at the hospital nothing did.

He said he’s not doing it anymore. Good fucking job on that showing.

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
Watched the first 2 episodes, didnt think it was that bad, couple of funny moments.

The Camp Agent bloke with his idea for a show called Careless Whispers featuring all the people who claim to have wanked off George Michael! Well it made me laugh..............

You sound very excitable, feet. Easily pleased I guess.

I'm halfway through the third season and think it's funny, without being anything that great. I'm certainly not in 'tears' for fucks sake.

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
Proper shit compared to the first two. The only real funny part was with the ashes but you knew it was coming as it was in the trailer.

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
Watched the first series out of interest and never watched anymore as i didn’t feel it was all that, he’s gone for the “easy win” with this and Derek with these things unfortunately. I will always love the early podcasts with Karl, the office, extras and an idiot abroad but everything else he has done is easily forgettable.

Watched the first 3 last night and have to say I was quite underwhelmed. Was ok in parts and I can only laugh at the word cunt so many times.

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
What I do like about this third series is that I think it leans towards comedy more, and less of the melodrama. I suppose that goes hand in hand with the main character moving on a bit more from his loss.

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
Only watched the first two episodes so far. Usually Gervais knows when he’s done, but I think this is a series too far. Some funny bits, but too few and far between.

Well i'm gonna be controversial here and say I loved it.... laughed a lot ... a real lot... pretty moving in places... and it has a great dog... another Gervais masterclass

I've watched the first three, found the first two episodes disappointing. But really enjoyed the third. Hopefully just a slow start.
